Near-record heat, elevated fire risk expected across North Texas before cold front arrives

   

Temperatures are expected to near a record high over the weekend, with much of North Texas facing an elevated fire risk.

Temperatures in the upper 90s are expected on Saturday and Sunday. Abnormally hot weather, along with low humidity, will create an elevated fire threat across Dallas-Fort Worth and to the west of the region, according to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth.

The heat will be about 10 to 15 degrees above what’s normal. Temperatures are expected to climb near a record of 97 degrees for both Saturday and Sunday, according to KXAS-TV(NBC5) meteorologist Adrienne Vonn.

A cold front arrives Sunday night, going into Monday. Highs in the 80s, along with sunny weather, are expected next week.

Saturday: High: 94. Low: 68.

Sunday: High: 96. Low: 67.

Monday: High: 86. Low: 61.

Tuesday: High: 83. Low: 59.

Wednesday: High: 79. Low: 60.
