More and more Americans are starting to reject left-wing media, and now conservative news sites and media are seeing a massive growth in popularity. By contrast, left-wing outlets are starting to fall by the wayside in growing numbers.
Bill D’Agostino with the Media Research Center says these left-wing outlets might not even be overtly political, but they’re culturally left-wing, and they’re redundant. He said, “There’s a lot of culling actually going on in the left, because they’re all sort of interchangeable with each other. A lot of them are going under, declaring bankruptcy, and firing writers.”
D’Agostino says while the world of left-wing media isn’t going to disappear, it’s losing its market share to more conservative outlets, and that’s creating opportunities for other new businesses to support the growth of those conservative outlets.
He pointed to businesses like P.R. firms, which have in recent years started to mirror the political and social values of the media outlets they service. According to D’Agostino, there’s an open market for more conservative P.R. firms. He says all that’s needed to corner this market is one or two people with a lot of money and decent connections.
D’Agostino says that this trend is likely to continue, especially since Trump is giving some of these newer conservative outlets more legitimacy by inviting them into the press room. He pointed to outlets like The Daily Wire and The Daily Caller, which both now have dedicated White House correspondents and have become major political and entertainment outlets in recent years.
