SAN ANTONIO – The South Texas Blood and Tissue Center (STBTC) is unveiling a new location on the city’s South Side.
On Jan. 14, the new location will open in the 3100 block of SE Military Drive, Ste. 105, according to a statement from the center.

The donor center will feature a mural by local artist Cristina Sosa Noriega, who specializes in public art, specifically in Mexican culture with a Texan spin.
The mural depicts blood donors and recipients from STBTC, including Mayah Zamora, a survivor of the Robb Elementary School shooting .
STBTC said Zamora’s donor, 17-year-old Adrianna Garcia, is also on the mural.
“She’s [Mayah’s] in there as well as other donors of different backgrounds, just to show anyone can be a donor,” Noriega said. “You can be a woman, a man, you can be old, you can be young, and it’s not hard … It’s a pretty simple thing and it’s totally worth it.”
January is also National Blood Donor Awareness Month, which is a time when donations usually drop, STBTC said.
