AUSTIN (KXAN) — After winning 2-1 Friday to even the series with No. 10 Oklahoma State, No. 2 Texas softball fell to the Cowgirls 3-0 on Saturday in Stillwater to drop the series.
Oklahoma State had one hit, but it was a big one. Caroline Wang blasted a 3-run home run in the first inning off Longhorns pitcher Estelle Czech for the only runs of the game.
Texas had two hits off Cowgirls hurler Lexi Kilfoyl who picked up her 13th win of the season. Ashton Maloney and Bella Dayton recorded hits for the Longhorns.
Mac Morgan relieved Czech in the third inning and kept Texas in the ballgame by not allowing any runs in 3 2/3 innings, but the Longhorns couldn’t figure out Kilfoyl.

On Friday, Texas pitcher Citlaly Gutierrez was terrific. She pitched a complete game, scattering five hits while allowing a run with six strikeouts. Oklahoma State grounded out 11 times off Gutierrez and walked once.
Kayden Henry provided the hit that scored the go-ahead run in the sixth, a single that scored Katie Stewart. Texas had eight hits in the game with Reese Atwood and Maloney each notching two.
Things don’t get any easier for the Longhorns (29-5, 9-3 Big 12) as they host No. 1 Oklahoma for a critical three-game series beginning Friday.
