No. 4 Texas hammers another nonconference opponent, beats DePaul 91-61

  

AUSTIN (KXAN) — No. 4 Texas dominated the offensive glass and forced 25 turnovers to blow out DePaul 91-61 in NCAA women’s basketball action Sunday in Chicago, Illinois.

Taylor Jones posted a double-double scoring 22 points on 10 of 13 shooting with 12 rebounds, nine offensive, to lead the Longhorns to 62 points in the paint and 22 second-chance points. Texas outrebounded the Blue Demons 45-29 for the game and scored 29 points off turnovers.

Madison Booker and Laila Phelia each scored 10 points for Texas. Point guard Rori Harmon notched nine assists to go with seven points. The Longhorns shot 51% and held DePaul to 37% with only 13 2-point field goals. The Blue Demons shot 6-for-14 from 3-point range and 19-for-51 overall.

Texas never trailed in the game and scored on almost 60% of its possessions. The Longhorns outscored DePaul 23-12 in the opening quarter and extended their lead to 43-28 by halftime.

DePaul’s Jorie Allen led all scorers with 23 points on 8 of 17 shooting.

Texas (3-0) hosts Tarleton State at 11 a.m., Wednesday.
