SAN ANTONIO – Universities across the state of Texas will not be raising the cost of tuition as inflation continues to take its toll.
On Wednesday, Governor Greg Abbott announced on X (Formerly Twitter) that he will not be supporting any undergraduate tuition increases at public universities for the 2025-2026 and the 2026-2027 school years.
This comes after Abbott signed a law prohibiting increasing tuition rates for both the 2023-2024 and 2024-2025 school years.
“Our universities must take every step possible to ease the financial burden on our students & their families,” Abbott said on X.
The governor’s office has been in close communication with the Board Of Regents of every public university system across Texas, also highlighting the investments made by the state in recent years to help build higher education.
