In a news release, PRSA-SA said it aims to fill a critical need in the community. Local public relations professionals from PRSA-SA will volunteer at the workshop and consult participants on messaging, social media strategies and other effective and low-cost methods to reach audiences.

“We believe that communication is essential to the success of any endeavor, including charitable and public service efforts,” PRSA-SA President Rachel Benavidez said in the release. “These good works help support countless neighbors and families, often competing for precious few resources to sustain them. They can be strengthened by this collaboration with PRSA members who want to see our community partners succeed.”

Any 501(c)3 organization based in the San Antonio area can register for the program. Organizations can send up to two paid representatives for $20 per person.

A limited number of scholarships are also available to qualifying participants on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Eligible participants can either be organizations with no public relations professional on staff and no access to support from public relations contractors, or if they do have a public relations employee on staff, they must need additional assistance.

Participants can register at prsanantonio.com. The deadline to register is Friday, Jan. 24.
