North Texas gained a lot of new residents in 2024. Here are some of the celebrities who decided to call it home

 

As North Texas continues to grow, some notable celebrities have joined the ranks of people who call the region home this year.

DALLAS — Texas added more residents than any other place in the country in the last year, according to new U.S. Census Bureau estimates, and North Texas was no exception.

As the Lone Star State continues to grow, some notable celebrities have joined the ranks of people who call North Texas home this year.

Here are some new North Texans (or people with new homes in North Texans) who have made waves in 2024.

Fort Worth has been a bit of a hub for TV and film projects this year, most notably North Texas’ own Taylor Sheridan’s “Yellowstone” and related spinoff shows.

Among the other celebrity types to make the move to Cowtown is Yolanda Hadid, known for “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills,” who told Architectural Digest this year that she and her fiancé Joseph Jingoli moved to a home in Sheridan’s neighborhood overlooking the Brazos River in the Weatherford area.

The Austin American Statesman reports her supermodel daughter, Bella Hadid, also moved to the Fort Worth area near her cowboy boyfriend, Adan Banuelos, after stepping back from modeling.

Bella and Banuelos have been seen in cutting-horse performances in North Texas, including most recently an event in Fort Worth with “Yellowstone” and “Landman” stars.

The TikTok famous food critic who made headlines when he visited North Texas on a food tour in February of this year, recently confirmed on social media that he and his family had moved from Las Vegas to Texas.

He didn’t reveal where in Texas he’d moved, but some on social media have reported seeing him in Dallas and he recently appeared in a promo release on Instagram for the release of the WNBA’s Dallas Wings’ 2025 regular season schedule.

His food tour through North Texas early this year took him to Terry Black’s Barbecue, Thunderbird Pies, Halal Fusionz, Hutchins BBQ, Absolutely Edible Cakes, Sweetly Seasoned, Brunchaholics, CeeZoos Bar & Lounge and Roots Southern Table.

He’s been back to North Texas since, including when he came to revisit Hutchins BBQ and instead visited The Original Roy  Hutchins BBQ in Trophy Club.

OK, so Shaq didn’t move to North Texas this year, but it appears he did move to a new North Texas city this year.

The retired Basketball Hall of Famer and “Inside The NBA” analyst put his 5,269-square-foot Carrollton home that he bought in 2022 on the market earlier this year, and the trust that was used to buy it acquired a 4,670-square-foot home in Rockwall County earlier this year. acquired a 4,670-square-foot home in Rockwall County.

He’s made headlines during his time in North Texas, including when he ran into a couple that was shopping for a washing machine in 2022,  decided to pick up the bill and threw in a 70-inch TV.

He’s also made trips to the Boys and Girls Club in Dallas and spoke at a fundraiser for the St. Philip’s School and Community Center.

When he needed a home base between traveling all over the country, including as DJ Diesel, he’s said North Texas was a natural fit.

This year also saw the opening of his Big Chicken restaurant in North Texas as well.
