North Texas Giving Day 2024 Raises a Record-Breaking $68.3 Million
Every year, the team at Communities Foundation of Texas wonders, “Will we break another North Texas Giving Day record?” And this year, once again, the answer is a resounding, “Yes!”
Now in its 16th year, the annual community-wide fundraising event blew through past milestones on Sept. 19 and raised $68.3 million. It makes it by far the largest regional fundraising event in the nation and brings the total raised since inception to $634 million.
“We are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support from the North Texas community for the causes they care about,” said Wayne White, president and CEO of Communities Foundation of Texas. “Individuals, families, and businesses truly showed up for one another.”
This year, North Texas Giving Day got a boost from a new “Champions of Giving” initiative that featured Texas Rangers first baseman Nathaniel Lowe, who led an all-star roster of sports celebrities from the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Stars, Dallas Maverics, FC Dallas, and Dallas Wings to drive donations.
“North Texas Giving Day continues to be a powerful demonstration of giving in this region,” said Vickie Yakunin, head of community affairs at Amazon, presenting sponsor. “On behalf of Amazon and our 29,000 employees here in Texas, we’re honored to put our resources to work supporting thousands of nonprofits. We are grateful for every individual who donated or helped support and amplify the impact of these organizations.”
This year, Allen, Dallas, Denton, Frisco, Irving, Keller, and Lewisville issued proclamations recognizing Sept.19, 2024, as North Texas Giving Day in their respective cities. According to CFT, the proclamations underscore the culture of generosity and support across the DFW region.
“Every donation has a meaningful impact on the nonprofits working to improve lives across our region,” White said.
