Northwest ISD said the high school is expected to open in 2027.
FORT WORTH, Texas — Northwest Independent School District is breaking ground on its newest high school.
The district posted several renderings of a new high school campus on social media and announced it will hold a groundbreaking this week. The new high school will feature a football field, tennis courts and areas for specialized career training, Northwest ISD said.
The campus will be located on North Riverside Drive near Highway 170 and I-35.
The new school, which is yet to be named, will be Northwest ISD’s fifth high school and fourth “comprehensive” high school campus. The new high school is being built to relieve NISD’s existing comprehensive high school campuses — Byrson Nelson, Eaton and Northwest.
The district is using money from a bond that voters passed two years ago to fund the construction of this new campus.
The rezoning process will start in winter 2026, and the school will officially open in August 2027, Northwest ISD said.
