DALLAS — U.S. Open champion and full-time content creator Bryson DeChambeau is dropping a new video this week. And it features a rather notable guest.
DeChambeau, who lives in North Texas and went to SMU, on Monday < a href="https://twitter.com/b_dechambeau/status/1815447305467970034" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">announced he filmed a golf video with former President Donald Trump. The video will drop on DeChambeau’s rapidly growing YouTube page, where he’ll often post videos of playing golf with guests.
The Trump video will be in a “Break 50” format, where DeChambeau and Trump will attempt to shoot under 50 in a scramble format. DeChambeau on X said he and Trump will donate $10,000 for each stroke under par to the Wounded Warrior Project.
“To be clear this is about golf and giving back to our nation’s veterans, not politics,” DeChambeau posted.
DeChambeau said he reached out to both presidential campaigns about filming the video and Trump was “down for the challenge.”
“It is an incredible honor to be able to enjoy a round of golf with any sitting or former president, and all have an open invitation to join me for a ground of Break 50 anytime,” DeChambeau posted.
It’s not clear when DeChambeau filmed the video with Trump. In the clip posted Monday, Trump isn’t wearing a bandage on his ear, so it was presumably before last Saturday when Trump survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania.
Trump and President Joe Biden famously sparred over their golf game during the June 27 debate, with Trump challenging Biden to a driving contest.
