DALLAS — The North Texas Tollway Authority (NTTA) is planning overnight lane closures on the Dallas North Tollway (DNT) from April 13 to April 18 to carry out pavement improvements aimed at improving road safety and driving conditions. The closures are scheduled during nighttime hours to minimize traffic issues for those who frequently travel through the area.
Scheduled Lane Closures
To minimize daytime traffic disruptions, the NTTA has planned the following nighttime closures:
• April 13–April 18 (7 p.m. to 5 a.m.): Closure of two northbound right lanes between Lemmon Avenue and Beverly Drive.
• April 14–April 16 (7 p.m. to 5 a.m.): Closure of two northbound left lanes from Park Lane to Interstate 635 (IH-635).
These closures are subject to change based on weather conditions. Message boards will be strategically placed to inform and guide drivers through the affected areas. Motorists are advised to exercise caution and plan alternative routes to avoid potential delays.
More about NTTA infrastructure projects
The current pavement improvements are part of NTTA’s broader strategy to maintain and enhance the efficiency of its tollway systems. According to NTTA’s FY 2024–FY 2028 Capital Plan, significant investments are being made in various projects, including the widening of the DNT from the Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT) to U.S. 380. This particular project, which began in FY 2022, aims to add an additional lane in each direction and is scheduled for completion in FY 2025, with a total estimated cost of $157.3 million.
In addition to the DNT widening, NTTA is undertaking several other capital improvement projects, such as the extension of the DNT over U.S. 380 and various roadway illumination upgrades to enhance visibility and safety.
