Initially, SAPD officers assisted Bexar County Sheriff’s deputies in investigating a crash.

During the investigation, officials said an SAPD officer noticed an unrelated vehicle traveling in their direction.

The SAPD officer attempted to stop the vehicle, but police said Christian Allen Garcia, 19, did not stop or listen to the officer’s commands.

Instead, Garcia drove the vehicle onto a curb, the department said.

SAPD said Garcia continued driving the vehicle toward the officer, which prompted the officer to pull out their weapon and fire a gunshot at the car.

Garcia was able to flee the scene inside the vehicle, according to police.

When officers identified Garcia, they found that he was also a suspect in four previous aggravated robberies.

Police said they later learned that a juvenile male and a juvenile female were detained at a different location.

It is not yet known if the juveniles were in the vehicle with Garcia or if the officer who fired their weapon will be placed on administrative leave.

No one was injured in the incident. SAPD said its investigation is ongoing.
