A gas leak was reported by a private contractor around 9:15 a.m. Dec 31 in White Settlement, police said.
WHITE SETTLEMENT, Texas — Officials are working to repair a broken gas line in White Settlement, but police stopped short of ordering evacuations, according to White Settlement police.
Safety officials were notified of a gas leak at about 9:15 a.m. Dec. 31 at the intersection of Gibbs Drive and Kimbrough Street, White Settlement Police said in a press release.
The 911 caller told police a private contractor employee struck a gas line while digging in the roadway, the release states.
On arrival, White Settlement police shut down the area, however, it was later determined that evacuations were unnecessary, police said.
Atmos Energy is on the scene making repairs to the gas line, the release states.
