SAN ANTONIO – A fight between two men on the South Side led to one dying and another hospitalized, according to San Antonio police.
The incident happened around 2:20 p.m. on Tuesday in the 200 block of Grosvenor Boulevard.
“I felt scared because what security do we have? It’s something new for me living here and to see someone dead,” said Sandra Maldonado, a neighbor.
A man, 58, and another man, 27, started arguing inside a home after an infant got into some items, police said.
“Hey, get that baby out of here!” said one of the men, according to police.
The man’s tone provoked the other man, and the two started arguing verbally, police said.
The two men challenged each other to fight in the street, but the altercation continued inside the home, SAPD said.
The 58-year-old man was shot but managed to stab the 27-year-old during the fight, authorities said. SAPD is still trying to determine who is the suspect and who is the victim.
“We don’t know who had the gun on them and if it was pulled out to shoot or just discharged in the physical fight?” asked KSAT’s John Paul Barajas.
“There was a struggle for the gun at some point. We’re trying to determine exactly if the individual took the gun out with the intention of shooting him,” answered police.
The 58-year-old man was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The 27-year-old man was found a couple of houses down from where the fight started, police said. Authorities tried to save his life, but he ended up dying from stab wounds, according to SAPD.
“If we would have stayed outside a little longer, maybe a lost bullet or something, like you never know,” said a neighbor who asked to remain anonymous.
