One person critically injured after being rescued from house fire, Dallas officials say

 

Dallas Fire-Rescue pulled a man and a woman out of a burning home overnight, police said.

DALLAS — One person is in critical condition after they were pulled out of a house fire in southern Dallas Monday, officials said. 

Firefighters responded to reports of a fire around 4:19 a.m. Monday in the 3500 block of Latimer Street, Dallas Fire-Rescue said in a press release. They found fire coming from the front of a small one-story residence and were told people were trapped inside, the release states. 

Firefighters found a man and woman inside the home, pulled them out, and quickly provided medical attention, officials said. The woman was treated for smoke inhalation and transported to a hospital in stable condition, officials said. The man was found unresponsive and was taken to a hospital in critical condition, the release states. 

Two dogs were also inside the home, and only one of them survived, officials said. The fire was declared extinguished at 4:50 a.m., officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
