One person dead in fatal crash, Allen police say

 

One person died after two vehicles crashed in Allen early Sunday, police said.

ALLEN, Texas — One person died in a fatal two-car crash in Allen on Sunday, police said. 

Officers responded to a crash around 12:14 a.m., Dec. 29, on Bethany Drive, Allen police said in a press release. Police found an unresponsive driver in an overturned purple Dodge Challenger in a creek beneath Bethany Drive, the release states. 

Officers and emergency personnel worked to extract the driver of the Dodge Challenger and perform life-saving measures, however, the driver was pronounced dead at the scene, the release states. 

The victim was later identified as Taranjeet Singh, police said. 

Investigators found that the Dodge Challenger was traveling at a high rate of speed when it collided with a Honda CR-V traveling in the same direction, the release states. The driver of the Challenger, later identified as Singh, lost control of his vehicle and overturned into the creek, police said. 

The driver of the Honda CR-V remained on the scene and provided a statement to Allen police, the release states.
