Over $8.1 million of meth seized at Laredo port of entry, CBP says

  

LAREDO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers in Laredo seized over $8.1 million worth of methamphetamine over the weekend, according to a CBP release.

The seizure occurred at the Laredo port of entry on Friday, Jan. 24, at the World Trade Bridge.

According to the release, a CBP officer pulled a Volvo 760 truck hauling a commercial shipment of industrial machinery for a secondary inspection.

During the inspection, with the use of canines, CBP officers discovered nearly 890 pounds of meth inside the trailer.

In total, CBP estimated the street value of the drugs to be $8,181,799.

Homeland Security agents are investigating the seizure, according to the release.
