Preston Grosvenor-Reed, 18, of Royse City, was booked into the Kaufman County Jail.
KAUFMAN COUNTY, Texas — One person has been arrested after police say he was drunk when he caused a crash that killed his passenger.
According to the Terrell Police Department, on Tuesday, around 2:50 a.m., officers were called to the scene of a crash in the area of SH 205 and Colquitt Rd.
When police arrived on scene, they found an SUV had hit a light pole on the right side of the roadway.
The passenger of the vehicle, identified as Bryson Barnes, 19, of Wills Point, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver, identified as Preston Grosvenor-Reed, 18, of Royse City, was taken to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries
When he was released from the hospital, Grosvenor-Reed was booked into the Kaufman County Jail on the following charges:
- Intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle
- Unlawful carrying of a weapon
- Possession of controlled substance (x3)
- Possession of marijuana
His bond was set at $270,500.
