Police arrest 26-year-old Landre Gilbert for armed robbery at Tom Thumb in Forney, using a BB gun.
FORNEY, Texas — A 26-year-old man was arrested Wednesday in c onnection to an armed robbery at a Tom Thumb supermarket in Forney, according to police.
The Forney Police Department (FPD) said Landre Gilbert was arrested and charged with first-degree aggravated robbery for an incident that happened on March 2. Forney police said Gilbert brandished a handgun at employees, who then tried to stop Gilbert as he left the store.
Police later determined the weapon Gilbert had brandished was a BB gun.
Gilbert was previously on parole for drug-related charges at the time of the robbery, Forney PD said.
At approximately 4 p.m. on March 5, the Forney Police Department SWAT Team, Criminal Investigation Division, and the Kaufman County Street Crimes Unit executed a search and arrest warrant at a residence in the 300 block of S. Chestnut Street in Forney. Gilbert was arrested without incident, Forney police said.
Police said Gilbert is awaiting arraignment and possible additional charges. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
