Police investigating home invasion and assault in south Fort Worth

Neighbors said the victim was able to crawl to safety while they called 911.

FORT WORTH, Texas — Fort Worth police are investigating an early morning home invasion in southern Fort Worth.

Authorities say they were called by a neighbor just after 10 p.m. Monday to the 6100 block of Community Lane.

An intoxicated man broke into a home and assaulted an 80-year-old female, according to police.

A neighbor on scene tells WFAA he saw a man pull up to the house, go inside, and begin throwing furniture. He then heard the victim screaming and saw her crawl out of the house to safety as he called 9-1-1.

The victim was transported to the hospital but is stable, police say. The suspect was arrested on the scene.

This is a developing story. WFAA will update this story as additional information becomes available.
