Lufkin Police Lt. Mike Shurley also said that the suspect was using the missing men’s debit cards.

LUFKIN, Texas — An East Texas man has been charged with murder after police say he admitted to killing two missing Lufkin men who have since been found dead, according to Angelina County Jail records.

John Wayne McCroskey, 57, has been in the Angelina County Jail since Feb. 8 on three counts of credit or debit card abuse. He was also believed to be a suspect in the disappearance of Michael “Mike” Allen and Robert Saxton, who were reported missing around Jan. 28.

Saxton’s body was found in Sabine Parish, Louisiana, in February, and a body that is believed to be Allen’s was found in the 5900 block of Old Tyler Road in Nacogdoches County on Tuesday.

Lufkin Police Lt. Mike Shurley said that McCroskey admitted to killing both Saxton and Allen, and he was the only person involved in their deaths. Shurley also said that McCroskey was using Saxton’s debit cards.

He has now been charged with murder and tampering with evidence along with the previous credit card abuse charges. His bonds on the new charges have not been set yet.
