The Flaming Onion hopes to expand once it builds a following in the states.
MCKINNEY, Texas — It may be the most famous claim in fast food: billions served. Everyone knows the place. However, there’s another burger joint that’s served millions without ever serving a single burger in the United States.
Until now.
The Flaming Onion is a burger food truck recently opened in McKinney by Ravi Thota.
Thota grew up in India where he also got his culinary degree. Soon after, he moved to New Zealand where he opened the first Flaming Onion. It became so popular he opened a second location and after serving millions down under, he decided to serve his first in America.
“It’s the land of opportunity,” Thota said.
Right now, his small food trailer is located in the parking lot of a gas station near downtown McKinney, but Thota would like to expand once word gets out about his food.
He said that’s already started to happen.
Almost immediately, one of his first customers had something to say.
“The best burger in his life,” Thota said.
At least three other people told him they’d never had a better burger.
“Just because of the quality and the ingredients, what we use,” said Thota.
He said condiments are made from scratch, meats are hand pressed, and everything is prepared fresh.
Thota said it doesn’t just make a good burger, it will make customers come back for more.
