The new restaurant is expected to open this summer.
ARLINGTON, Texas — A popular barbecue joint in North Texas is opening a new location in north Arlington near AT&T Stadium, Globe Life Field, Hurricane Harbor and Six Flags over Texas.
The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque is opening a second location, dubbed Roy Hutchins Barbeque at the Ballpark, at 1600 E. Copeland Road across from Six Flags’ Hurricane Harbor this summer.
Renovations have begun at this new location, which is expected to boast a large extended covered patio.
“We’re excited to get this deal done with the Carroll family and bring the Hutchins family traditions to the heart of Arlington,” said The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque Director of Operations Zack Hutchins.
Roy Hutchins and his family, now including Roy’s son Wes and grandson Zack, have been in the barbecue business since they opened Roy’s Smokehouse in 1978 in Princeton, Texas. After many iterations, Roy finally settled on “The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque” in Trophy Club, Texas.
Much more recently, The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque gained a boost in popularity from TikTok food critic Keith Lee.
During his food tour through North Texas last year, Lee and his family stopped at Hutchins BBQ and gave it a glowing review. He then went back to North Texas in July to revisit it but ended up at The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque in Trophy Club instead. The two barbecue joints are owned by members of the same family but are distinctly different. There was a legal battle to establish a difference.
It was apparently a happy mistake because Lee and his family went back to The Original Roy Hutchins Barbeque in September.
