You get the sense that the brain trust—if one can call it that—over at the Biden campaign is starting to panic as his reelection looks to be increasingly in peril. His poll numbers are terrible against his opponent Donald Trump, and virtually every public appearance is marked by lies, slurred speech and aimless wandering.

You could really feel their desperation in their attempt to claim that it was actually Trump who slurs and freezes during speeches. The team posted a video Sunday of the former president and presumptive GOP nominee speaking at the National Rifle Association (NRA) on Saturday. In the post, the Biden/Harris HQ Twitter account wrote that “Trump starts playing QAnon music during his bizarre slur-filled NRA speech.”
Question of the day: just what the heck is QAnon music?
Trump does take a long pause as the music swells, but it certainly looks nothing like a “freeze.” He doesn’t appear to be confused, or looking for words, or unsure what to do next. This by the way occurred after he’d already been speaking for an hour. In other words, the Biden team’s take is completely disingenuous.

Meanwhile, a post from a site called Biden’s Wins, who tout themselves as “The largest online community of President Biden’s supporters,” reposted the video and wrote, “BREAKING: Donald Trump just glitched out and froze at his rally tonight. He is clearly unfit for office. Retweet so every American knows Trump is senile.”

This is just getting pathetic. They’re going to have to do a whole lot better than that.
Trump didn’t take long to respond, pointing out in a Truth Social post that it’s actually Biden who “freezes all the time, can’t put two sentences together, and can rarely find his way off the stage without help.” This, to me, seems a more effective line of attack than Biden’s because we’ve all seen exactly what Trump is talking about.
There was more tit for tat after that, with Biden’s team doubling down on claiming that Trump froze. If this is the best they’ve got, things are only going to get worse for them.

There are legitimate lines of attack that Biden could use against Trump, but trying to ding him on cognitive ability and mental stamina isn’t one of them—such attacks mostly just remind Americans of the president’s own very compromised state. Think it’s time for Plan B, guys.
