Preparations for Aggie football underway ahead of Notre Dame game

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – We are a little over a week away from Texas A&M Football kicking off the season.

The Bryan-College Station area is expected to see thousands of out-of-town visitors, which means preparations are underway.

Texas A&M University Police say they develop a game day safety plan months in advance to make sure things run smoothly.

Patrol Officer Robert Leseth with University Police says they bring in multiple Law Enforcement Agencies to keep campus safe and secure.

“We’re reaching out to a significant amount of our law enforcement partners,” said Leseth. “That is the Bryan Police Department, College Station Police Department, the Blinn Police Department, the Brazos County Sherriff’s Office, the FBI and the ATF.”

Preparations for Aggie Football season are underway

It’s not just law enforcement preparing for the game, hotels are already booked and ready for the influx of visitors making their way to Aggieland.

The Hilton College Station & Conference Center will be at max capacity next weekend.

The general manager of The Hilton, Marissa Selby, says they have been booked for the first Aggie game day weekend for over two months.

Selby says in the last two weeks, there’s been a 50 percent increase in their volume of calls asking about booking a room with them on home game weekends.

To accommodate the influx of visitors on game day weekends, the Hilton is hosting a watch party for their guests.

“We’re rolling off our first watch party for the Notre Dame game, and we’ll be hosting our first watch party on the Reveille rooftop bar.” said Selby. “We’ll have a buffet, drink specials, things like activities and it’s something we plan on doing for the entire football season.”

The Hilton says they are also completely booked for the LSU and Texas games, and they expect the same for the other home weekends.
