Railroad crossing shutdown as North Texas police respond to train derailment

   

It’s unclear if there were any injuries.

DENISON, Texas — Several train cars derailed Monday evening in Denison with prolonged road closures expected.

The Denison Texas Police Department responded around 4:30 p.m. to reports of a train derailment at Armstrong Ave. and Nelson St.

Police are advising drivers to take an alternate route as the crossing at Mirick Ave. is closed. It’s unclear how many people were on board and if there were any injuries.

Denison police said the Texas Northeastern Railroad has been notified.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
