Baylor Scott & White Health, the largest nonprofit hospital system in Texas, plans to develop a new medical center in Collin County, following a rapid increase in population over the last decade.

The 340,000-square-foot, 84-bed hospital in Frisco will offer services like cardiovascular care, emergency care, women’s health, surgery and imaging. Construction began in 2023 and is expected to be completed in July, according to the hospital’s website.

Also included in the plans are a medical office building, a central utility plant and a parking garage. The Frisco Planning and Zoning Committee approved a site plan on Jan. 14 for these additional components of the project.

The 37-acre medical center is located at the northeast corner of Dallas Parkway and PGA Parkway. Baylor Scott & White purchased the land for the development from Jerry Jones’ Blue Star Land in 2021 and the property was rezoned in 2022.

The overall development is expected to cost $265 million, according to Community Impact. While it’s not clear how many people will work at the hospital, Baylor Scott & White currently lists 43 job openings online.

The new hospital will mean increased access to health care in Collin County, which has added more than 200,000 residents since 2020, according to a 2024 credit analysis by Moody’s.

The county is home to four of the fastest-growing cities in the nation: Celina, Anna, Princeton and Prosper. While Frisco is not included on this list, the city has still experienced rapid growth, welcoming more than 100,000 new residents since 2010, according to U.S. Census Bureau data.

“The new Baylor Scott & White campus will be critical to the healthcare infrastructure needed to support the area’s anticipated population … bringing high-quality care close to home,” a spokesperson said in an email.

In addition to expanding in Collin County, Baylor Scott & White is currently investing millions to upgrade its medical center on Gaston Avenue in East Dallas.
