Rapper Sauce Walka, 34, shot outside Memphis hotel in deadly double shooting

Sauce Walka is in hospital after he was shot outside a hotel in Memphis, Texas, according to reports.

The 34-year-old rapper, whose real name is Albert Walker Mondane, was one of two men who were shot in the incident. The shooting happened outside a hotel near the FedEx Forum around 2:42 p.m. on Saturday.

Sauce was shot in the leg and injured. The Houston-born musician is currently in a non-critical condition in hospital and is expected to make a full recovery. His family have shared an update on the shooting and said they believe Sauce was not the target.

Another man who is yet to be identified was shot and killed, according to TMZ. It’s believed he was with Sauce when the shooting happened.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, the Memphis Police Department told FOX13. Authorities said it was a targeted drive-by shooting.

It’s believed police have identified the car used during the attack and an investigation is underway. Police told the outlet they are working on making an arrest.

Sauce was seen partying in Memphis just hours before the shooting in videos shared to his Instagram Story. Fans have taken to his social media account to wish him a speedy recovery.

“Damn sauce Godspeed you got them angels over you you always gone be straight,” one person wrote. Another said, “God got you family,” while a third person commented, “PULL THROUGH SAUCE.”

“Prayers brother prayers,” a fourth fan posted. Someone else urged, “You will be ok I promise,” while other fans left prayer hand emojis in the comments.

Sauce started his rap career in 2007, using the stage name A-Walk. He was a member of the rap group Mostheadgiver before he started releasing solo mixtapes under his current stage name in 2014.

He has feuded with Drake, releasing a diss track titled Wack 2 Wack in 2015. In the song, he accused Drake of appropriating Houston’s hip-hop culture.

Speaking about his career, Sauce previously claimed to have turned down a multimillion-dollar offer from Jay-Z and Roc Nation so he could continue working as an independent artist. Away from his rap career, he has a number of business ventures including two gyms and real estate.
