With the 12th pick in the 2024 MLB Draft, the Boston Red Sox selected Braden Montgomery, an outfielder from Texas A&M.
The switch-hitting 21-year-old supplants Tyler Naquin as the highest-drafted position player in Texas A&M history. Montgomery does have some two-way ability, touching 96 mph with his fastball, but he’ll likely spend his career in the outfield.
Montgomery has been wearing a walking boot and riding a scooter since fracturing his ankle June 8, but the injury is not considered to be a major issue moving forward, according to The Boston Globe’s Alex Speier .
