Another day, another tweet by a prominent Democrat, claiming a Republican is racist, sexist, bigoted, or now, fascist. On Tuesday, University of Berkely professor, and former United States Secretary of Labor, Robert Reich posted an absurd tweet about Florida Governor Ron DeSantis. Reich tweeted: “Just wondering if ‘DeSantis’ is now officially a synonym for ‘fascist.'”
It’s like clockwork for the Democrats. We hear the same claims about GOP leaders and candidates every two and four years. They throw every name in the book and hope it sticks. By throwing these names at Republicans, they are making these words lose their meaning, and that is not something we should take lightly. Racism, sexism, and fascism are not words that should just be thrown out there because not everything that Democrats and the left disagree with is “racist” and “fascist.”
But where are all those fact-checkers? They fact-check almost any and everything that the GOP says or that a conservative tweets, but Reich can say “Just wondering if ‘DeSantis’ is now officially a synonym for ‘fascist,'” and we don’t see a label under his tweet saying it’s false. The fact-checkers were swarming so much at one point that Donald Trump Jr. had to add to his Instagram posts a note to fact-checkers, saying it was a parody post.
We have heard the left call Donald Trump, Ron DeSantis, Ted Cruz, Kristi Noem, and anybody who disagrees with them and their far-left radical agenda, a “white supremacist,” “homophobe,” as well as the other terms I previously listed. But Reich knows better than that. He knows DeSantis is not a “fascist.” But since he was asked to campaign for Pennsylvania gubernatorial candidate Doug Mastriano, he has also been called a “Nazi.”
These people must be called out because we are seeing what’s happening when they are not. They think they can say whatever they want while receiving no pushback that their narrative is completely false, and if there is no pushback, then more people — and voters — will begin to believe the lie.
New York Post and Fox News columnist Karol Markowicz posted a tweet about the backlash that DeSantis received after rallying with Mastriano.
“This is a bunch of nonsense and I hope Republicans don’t bother responding to these kinds of stories. The “Jewish leaders” here are all activist Democrats disgustingly using some tenuous connection to attack DeSantis, an obvious friend to Jews.”
DeSantis also denounced the group of people carrying Nazi flags in Florida:
So, Reich and Democrats can try and smear DeSantis, but it will not work if they are called out. For four years, voters heard the paranoia from the left about Trump, as they called him every name in the book. But because there was not much pushback, they felt like that messaging was working and continued pushing it forward. It’s wrong, and it must be called out, especially because fact-checkers only check when it comes to those on the right.
