Florida Governor Ron DeSantis promised to send illegals to progressive states, and he is delivering on that promise. On Wednesday, DeSantis sent two planes full of illegals to Martha’s Vineyard.
Taryn Fenske is DeSantis’ communications director, and she told Fox News Digital:
“Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations.”
She continued, listing states that would take better care of the illegals:
“States like Massachusetts, New York, and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country’ by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden Administration’s open border policies.”
“As you may know, in this past legislative session the Florida Legislature appropriated $12 million to implement a program to facilitate the transport of illegal immigrants from this state consistent with federal law.”
For those who might not know, former President Barack Obama bought a multimillion-dollar house in Martha’s Vineyard in 2019. Many other celebrities live or have lived on Martha’s Vineyard, such as Bill Murray, Reese Witherspoon, and even Princess Diana, to name a few.
When DeSantis proposed the idea of sending illegals to Martha’s Vineyard, his office said:
“It is not the responsibility of Floridians to subsidize aliens to reside in our state unlawfully; we did not consent to Biden’s open-borders agenda.”
Some people agree with DeSantis and Texas Governor Greg Abbott that illegals should be sent to areas that claim to be sanctuary cities and states. However, some, such as Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake, disagree. She called Abbott’s decision to send illegals to Washington D.C. and New York a “cute photo op.”
Lake said:
“It’s a cute photo op, but it just places people who shouldn’t be here further into the country. I think we should bring the buses, drive them to the border, and send them the other way,”
DeSantis and Abbott are sending illegals to these sanctuary cities and states because the leaders of those cities, such as Eric Adams, Muriel Bowser, and Lori Lightfoot, claimed to be sanctuaries. However, they have not been as welcoming as they claimed to be when the illegals ended up in their cities.
But Lake does have a valid point. Why send the illegals further into the United States? Legal immigrants came into America the right way; some waited months, some waited years, but they got in legally. So, her point is that we should not be sending these illegals further into the country but instead, busing them back to the southern border. If they want to come to America, they must do it like everybody else — the legal way.
