AUSTIN (KXAN) — Chris Mihealsick, a teacher at Westwood High School in Round Rock ISD, was celebrated as the Texas Secondary Teacher of the Year.
Mihealsick teaches Advanced Placement environmental science and is the science department chair for Westwood.
The Texas Association of School Administrators (TASA) said in the past, Mihealsick has taught chemistry, anatomy and biology at Westwood. Prior to her time at Westwood, Mihealsick worked at Crockett High School in Austin ISD, teaching chemistry and biology.
TASA works to recognize teachers on local, regional, state and national levels, who have “demonstrated outstanding leadership and excellence in teaching.”
She is set to represent Texas in the National Teacher of the Year competition.
