ROWLETT, Texas — Police said they have suspended the search for a suspect who escaped officers while in handcuffs Thursday.

According to the Rowlett Police Department, officers began searching for a woman arrestee who fled on foot in the area of Rowlett Road and Hickox Road Thursday evening.

Police said in a social media post that she was described as having longer hair and was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, green pajama pants and black shoes.

About an hour-and-a-half after their initial post, Rowlett PD made an update at 7:49 p.m. saying officers were unable to find the suspect and that units were clearing the area.

Despite the failed search, Rowlett PD said there is no indication of any threat to the public.

It was not immediately clear why the suspect was placed in handcuffs to begin with.
