Sachse High School student faces murder charge in deadly Garland shooting, police say

A teenager was taken into police custody after a man was shot to death Saturday night in Garland.

Officers responded to reports of a “weapons disturbance” about 11:30 p.m. in the 3200 block of West Buckingham Road and found a gunshot victim in the parking lot of an apartment complex, police said.

The victim, only identified in a police news release as a 21-year-old man from Richardson, was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. He was identified as Jon Isaac Osornio, according to Dallas County medical examiner records.

Police said they used a K9 and were able to track the suspect who left the area on foot.

The suspect is a 16-year-old Sachse High School student and was taken into custody on a murder charge, police said. The suspect, who was not publicly named due to their age, is being held at the Dallas County Juvenile Detention Center.

Detectives determined the shooting was not random but the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information can call Garland police at 972-485-4840.
