SAN ANTONIO – School districts in the Hill Country and South Central Texas have announced closures and delays this week due to wintry weather.
A few showers on Thursday morning will give way to widespread rainfall by the afternoon. Temperatures will fall into the 30s as the rain sets in.

Drivers should expect wet roads and plenty of puddles around town.

A bout of sleet or freezing rain is still very much a possibility in the Hill Country, especially early on Thursday. However, the impacts look minimal.
By midday Thursday, it will likely turn to all rain.

Another window that’ll need to be watched is late Thursday night into pre-dawn Friday. During this time, a few snowflakes may also mix in. Again, any impacts would be minimal.
Due to the weather, several schools have announced schedule changes due to potentially hazardous conditions.
Here’s a list of districts that have announced changes so far.
District closures and cancellations

Bandera ISD will have no after school practice for softball and boys’ soccer on Thursday, Jan. 9. Softball practice has also been canceled for Friday, Jan. 10.

Comfort ISD will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 9.

Ingram ISD activities scheduled for 5 p.m. and after on Thursday, Jan. 9 are canceled.

Kerrville ISD will remain on a regular schedule until 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9. All KISD activities scheduled after 5 p.m. Thursday have been canceled.

La Pryor ISD canceled classes for Friday, Jan. 10.
Early dismissals

Utopia ISD dismissed school at 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 9.
District delays

Crystal City ISD will have a delayed start on Thursday, Jan. 9, and Friday, Jan. 10. Staff will report to school at 8 a.m., and students will report at 9 a.m.

Comfort ISD announced on Thursday there will be a delayed start on Jan. 10. Staff will report at 9 a.m., and students will report at 9:30 a.m. All bus routes will run at later times as well, according to the district.

Harper ISD will have a two hour delayed start on Friday, Jan. 10. Buses will also run two hours later than normal.
