SAPD says 19-year-old man shot, transported to hospital in critical condition

SAN ANTONIO – The San Antonio Police Department said it is investigating a Friday night shooting on the East Side.

While San Antonio police officers roped off the 2100 block of Burnet Street with crime scene tape, authorities said they are not certain where the shooting took place.

An officer on the scene initially told KSAT that an 18-year-old man was shot in the chest once and transported to a local hospital around 9:30 p.m.

In a preliminary report released Saturday morning, SAPD identified the victim as a 19-year-old man.

When officers arrived, they said they found the 19-year-old inside a vehicle with the apparent gunshot wound.

Police said the victim agreed to meet with an unknown number of suspects for an unspecified transaction. During the meeting, SAPD said one of the suspects shot the 19-year-old and fled the scene with the victim’s personal property.

The 19-year-old also left that location. He called police when he arrived on Burnet Street.

Officers said they do not have any information on the suspects. The department said its investigation is ongoing.
