Following the official hiring of Jim Schlossnagle by the University of Texas on Tuesday, the Longhorns flipped their first Texas A&M Baseball committment just two days later. Right-handed pitcher Sam Cozart (Wesleyan Christian Academy – High Point, NC) announced his decision to flip to the Longhorns via his Instagram account.
Cozart stands a tall 6-7 and weighs 240 lbs and is one of the top pitching prospects nationally in the Class of 2025. Cozart originally committed to Mississippi State in 2021 but flipped his commitment to Texas A&M last month. His two older brothers, Caleb and Jacob, play college baseball at UNC Greensborough and NC State, respectively.
With Cozart’s commitment, he joins four JUCO commits and one transfer portal commit for the Longhorns.
Texas signed the #3 recruiting class in the country last season after signing 21 players to National Letters of Intent.
