Search underway after East Texas mother accused of leaving 3-year-old unattended by highway evades police

   

Garcia was wanted in three separate counties on felony charges.

TRINITY COUNTY, Texas — An East Texas woman accused of leaving her child unattended by a highway and evading police was arrested Monday afternoon. 

According to the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office, police were called to apartments in the 1200 block of FM 356 after a 3-year-old boy was seen running around the road without anyone nearby. 

His mother was identified as Loryn Paige Garcia, 25, Sheriff Woody Wallace said. She ran into her home, then escaped from the home. She evaded police with the child in a vehicle, but the Trinity County Sheriff’s Office later reported she is in custody.

Garcia was wanted in three separate counties on felony charges. 

Wallace said Garcia was found at her mother’s house in Onalaska. Those who tried to hiding and harboring Garcia are expected to be charged with a crime.
