Semi with more than 60 migrants found south of Juarez

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — A semitruck packed with 63 migrants was discovered when it was stopped at a checkpoint near Juarez on Saturday, June 29, our news partners in Juarez reported.

The semitruck was stopped at the Samalayuca checkpoint on the Pan-American Highway.

Most of the migrants were from Guatemala and Ecuador and most were single adults. They were taken to a Mexican immigration station.

Three families and three unaccompanied minors were taken to shelters.

This comes as Mexico continues to stop migrants coming north who do not have the necessary humanitarian permits.
