Powerful storms are moving through North Texas late Sunday, bringing heavy rain and strong wind gusts, leaving hundreds without power.

Sunday is a WFAA Weather Alert Day with the potential for severe storms, with the main threat being damaging winds of 70-plus mph. The tornado threat is low but not zero.

“Winds of this severity are capable of uprooting trees and blowing branches or debris into powerlines or equipment, and have the greatest potential for causing power outages,” Oncor said in a statement to WFAA.

As of around noon Monday, more than 29,000 Oncor customers were reported without power, according to Oncor’s outage map.

“We appreciate your patience as we work as quickly and safely as possible,” Oncor said.
