SMU dominates Florida State in Dallas 42-16 in ACC opener

The Mustangs shined bright in their inaugural ACC game.

DALLAS — The SMU Mustangs kicked off ACC play in style, cruising to a 42-16 win over the Florida State Seminoles.

Starting quarterback and Dallas native Kevin Jennings led the charge on Saturday night as he completed 16 passes for 254 yards and three touchdowns.

And it wasn’t just through the air where the Mustangs made their presence felt.

On the ground, running back Brashard Smith rushed for an outstanding 129 yards and one touchdown.

Defensively, the Mustangs were a force to be reckoned with as they forced three turnovers, including an interception by linebacker Kobe Wilson that resulted in an 82-yard return for a touchdown.

SMU now moves to 4-1 on the season and will have its biggest test next week as the Mustangs will have to travel to Louisville to face the No. 15-ranked Cardinals.
