KAMU 90.9 FM will host its spring pledge drive Jan. 25-26.
Located in the Moore Communications Center on the Texas A&M University campus, KAMU-FM has served as Aggieland’s Public Radio since 1977.
“KAMU-FM has a strong, loyal audience — many have been supporting us since the very beginning — but there’s a growing number of people discovering, or even rediscovering, the station because they’ve learned about some great new shows, an improved schedule and more ways than ever to listen,” said Station Manager Jay Socol.
Listener contributions are an essential source of funding for KAMU-FM, which is home to longtime National Public Radio favorites like “Morning Edition,” “All Things Considered” and “Fresh Air,” as well as popular storytelling from “The Daily,” “This American Life” and “The Moth Radio Hour.”
Locally-hosted programs include “Garden Success with Skip Richter,” an AgriLife extension agent in Brazos County; “Easy Sounds of the ’50s & ’60s” with Dave South, who spent more than 30 years as the iconic voice of the Aggies; and “The Heart of Art with Hector Niño,” hosted by a 2021 Texas A&M graduate.
The spring pledge drive also helps support the all-new KAMU-Classical HD Radio station, which offers classical music 24/7 and features listener favorites, including “Performance Today,” “Pipedreams” and “Exploring Music with Bill McGlaughlin.”
