Dallas-raised Annie Clark, better known as St. Vincent, thanked her wife and daughter in her acceptance speeches.
DALLAS — Dallas-raised singer and guitarist Annie Clark – better known as St. Vincent – had a big Sunday night at the 2025 Grammys.
St. Vincent, who was born in Tulsa and raised in Dallas, won three awards last night – best alternative music album for “All Born Screaming,” Best Rock Song for her song “Broken Man” and best alternative music performance for her single “Flea.”
In her acceptance speech for Best Rock song, St. Vincent gave a heartfelt thank you to her family.
“First I want to thank my beautiful family – my beautiful wife Leah and our beautiful daughter,” she said after her win for Best Rock Song to cheers from the crowd.
She also shouted them out during her speech following her win for Best Alternative Music Album.
“This record was obviously a labor of love and making records is like building a house when you have no floor plans and don’t know what wood or concrete is,” she said, joking, of “All Born Screaming.”
St. Vincent began the night featuring in the opening performance of Randy Newman’s “I Love L.A.” by Dawes – along with John Legend, Brad Paisley, Sheryl Crow and Brittany Howard. The opening performance served as a tribute to Los Angeles following the devastating wildfires.
Before Sunday night, St. Vincent already had three Grammy Award wins under her belt. “All Born Screaming” is her first entirely self-produced record, mixed by Cian Riordan. “All Born Screaming” features contributions from the Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl and Josh Freese, Cate Le Bon, Justin Meldal-Johnson, Stella Mozgawa, Rachel Eckroth, Mark Giuliana and David Ralicke.
Clark won her first Grammy in 2014 for Best Alternative Music Album for St. Vincent. Her first break into the top 20 on the Billboard charts came with her third album, 2011’s “Strange Mercy,” which peaked at No. 19 on the Billboard 200.
