State Fair of Texas discounts: How to save a buck (or two) while enjoying the food and rides

 

Everyone knows going to the State Fair of Texas is pretty costly, but here’s some ways you can save some money while enjoying the festivities and food with family.

DALLAS — Getting out to the State Fair of Texas and not breaking the bank can be a little difficult – especially for families. 

Everyone knows getting a glance at Big Tex while chowing down on a Fletcher’s Corny Dog – among numerous other fried food items – can get pretty costly. There are plenty of attractions to see, and even more things to try to eat.

There are some things you can do to save a buck (or two) on your visit to Fair Park. Here is a breakdown of all the State Fair of Texas discounts and deals:

State Fair of Texas: How can I save money on admission?

Daily admission discount: Use code 22DARTSAVE at checkout to receive your discount. This will take $7 off of daily admission tickets on Saturday and Sunday or $5 off daily admission tickets from Monday through Friday.

Kids price after 5 p.m.: Everyone is a kid at night at the Fair! On any night of the week, visitors receive reduced general admission after 5 p.m. No matter your age, all guests pay the child price for that particular day. Available at the gate and online, after 5 p.m. every day. On Mondays through Thursdays, you’ll pay $10 instead of $15; on Fridays, you’ll pay $15 instead of $20; and on weekends, you’ll pay $18 instead of $25.

Discounted Premium One-Day admission at Kroger: Purchase in advance at your local Kroger and get $3 off Premium One-Day admission tickets. They may be purchased at the check-out counter or service desk from Sept. 1 to the last day of the Fair.

Military Appreciation: All active military, retired military, and veterans save $5 any day when they present valid documentation of military service at the gate or online. Spouses of service men and women with a valid Military Spouse ID and accompanying children under the age of 18 also receive discounted admission. For information on how to obtain your Military ID Card before your visit to the Fair, contact your military branch or go to www.cac.mil.

First Responders Appreciation: All first responders can save $5 any day when they present a valid badge or ID card from their department or organization at the gate or online. Spouses of first responders and accompanying children under the age of 18 also receive discounted admission.

Feed the Need Wednesdays: By bringing five canned food items, fairgoers will receive admission for only $5. All canned donations go to the North Texas Food Bank, which helps feed members of the community. Feed the Need donation program ends at 5 p.m. on Wednesdays.

Senior Days: Every Thursday during the Fair, senior citizens 60 years and better get into the Fair for only $5.

Value Days: Value Days are every Tuesday and Thursday during the Fair when you can purchase your admission ticket online for a reduced price of only $10. Only Big Tex Insiders receive the promotion code for this exclusive savings so you’ll have to sign up.

State Fair of Texas: How can I save money on food and rides?

Thrifty Thursdays: Every Thursday participating food vendors offer one of their signature menu items at a reduced price, ranging from mini versions to regular-size items.

4 coupon Midway rides on Tuesdays: Most rides on the Midway are four coupons, with kid rides discounted to three coupons on Tuesdays. This deal excludes the Thrillway and the Texas Star Ferris Wheel.

Discounted coupons from McDonald’s: Discount coupons are available at participating McDonald’s locations throughout North Texas on tray liners and inside their meal bags. With this coupon, any fairgoer can save $5 on any day.

State Fair of Texas: What to know about Red River Rivalry day (Saturday, Oct. 12)

The Saturday of the Red River Rivalry is historically the highest-attended day of the State Fair of Texas, so officials advise getting to the stadium early. A ticket to the game also grants you access to the State Fair of Texas for the day.
