Steelers star rips fans for booing Texas star after record-breaking guarantee

INDIANAPOLIS — Texas star wide receiver Isaiah Bond tried to call his shot. He stated he could beat former teammate Xavier Worthy’s record-breaking 4.21 40-yard dash time from a year ago, but Bond did not come all that close to breaking the record.

He still ran a great time of 4.4, but the NFL Combine crowd held him up to his words and booed him after he did not come close to the record.

Pittsburgh Steelers star Cam Heyward saw the reaction online and in the stands, and he was not happy. Instead, Heyward believes everyone should be happy for Bond, who still put up an excellent number.

“I don’t get the point in being mad about Isaiah Bond’s 40. He wanted 4.2(which he should) and came up with 4.4(which is still good). So what!! Let’s be happy for these kids that they are living out their dream of wanting to join the NFL. Don’t get caught up in the numbers. That ain’t even ball,” Heyward said.

Bond is a burner and can still fly, even if his guarantee never came to fruition. Teammate Matthew Golden set the pace on the day, running a 4.29 40-yard dash and turning heads while doing so.
