Survey says Hutto rates ‘higher than the Texas average’ for city services

HUTTO, Texas (KXAN) — The City of Hutto says the results of a bi-annual survey rating resident satisfaction with city services has given them insight into what is working well and what can be improved.

A summary of the findings from the City of Hutto said the city rated “higher than the Texas average” for services including public safety, traffic enforcement, city communication, customer service, stormwater management, animal control, and wastewater services.

The findings report for the 2024 City Services and Culture Survey was presented to the Hutto City Council at a meeting earlier this month.

The survey was conducted by the ETC Institute, a third party that conducts similar surveys of municipalities across Texas and the United States.

Opportunities of improvement included the flow of traffic on major roads and highways, traffic flow on city streets, street maintenance, water utility services, and parks, trails and recreation facilities.

Allison Strupeck, director of communications for the City of Hutto, said many of these improvement areas are already on the city’s radar.

She said the city’s street maintenance plan has outlined several years of improvements and preventative maintenance. She said some of those repairs are already in progress.

“This survey is a big deal for helping us to make really well informed decisions that reflect the true priorities of our community members that we serve,” Strupeck said.

Strupeck said many of these opportunities of improvement are slated to be addressed when leaders begin to draft the budget for the next fiscal year.
