Suspect arrested after allegedly fatally shooting 1 person, Fort Worth police say

 

A suspect in the shooting was arrested and hospitalized after a brief struggle with officers, police said.

FORT WORTH, Texas — One person died after a shooting in east Fort Worth, police said. 

Officers responded to a shooting call around 9:24 p.m. Dec 23 in the 2300 block of Sanborn Street, Fort Worth police said in a press release. Police found a victim with a gunshot wound to his upper body, the release states.

The victim died on the scene, police said. Fort Worth police did not immediately release the name of the victim. 

Witnesses told police that the suspect ran away from the scene on foot after shooting the victim, police said. Officers were able to arrest the suspect a short distance from the scene, police said. The suspect was taken to a hospital after a struggle with officers, the release states. 

His condition is unknown but is not life-threatening, police said. Officers did not immediately release the name of the suspect.
