A suspect barricaded himself inside his home overnight in the 3000 block of Lulu Street, officials said.
FORT WORTH, Texas — A suspect was arrested after he allegedly fired shots at his neighbor’s house and barricaded himself in a second-floor apartment in North Texas, police said.
Police responded to a shooting call Friday in the 3000 block of Lulu Street, Fort Worth Police said in a press release. Officers arrived on the scene and were told by witnesses they heard loud bangs and saw several bullet holes fired into their residence, the release states.
The witnesses told police their neighbor frequently walks around with a long gun, police said. The witnesses’ neighbor told police they heard shots fired from a second-floor apartment above the main residence. Officers removed the first-story inhabitants and made contact with the suspect on the second story, officials said.
The suspect was later identified as 40-year-old David Ayala, police said.
Officers were able to see the suspect on the second story, but he refused to obey commands and barricaded himself inside the house, the release states. SWAT was called to the home to assist officers and after several hours, the suspect was taken into custody.
Ayala was charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, police said. A weapon was recovered inside the residence.
