A woman told police two men had been “arguing with each other over their relationship with her” before one fatally shot the other Tuesday afternoon in southeast Oak Cliff, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.
Officers responded about 3:15 p.m. to a shooting in the 5900 block of Highland Village Drive, off Bonnie View Road, and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound in the parking lot of Estelle Village Apartments, police said.
The victim was taken to the hospital, where he died. He was identified in a police news release as 36-year-old Quentin Brown.
Police later identified Alonzo Green, 22, as a suspect in the killing, according to the release.
Witnesses to the shooting called 911 and told police Green left the scene in a silver Dodge Charger, according to an arrest-warrant affidavit.
An officer wrote in the report that officers “who had contacted the suspect and complainant minute [sic] before the shooting offense, retrieved a license plate to the suspect vehicle that was recording during their contact.”
Additional officers were alerted of the license plate number and located Green inside the vehicle in the 200 block of Short Boulevard.
According to the affidavit, Green had blood on his shoes, a gun was recovered from his vehicle and he told police he drove from his home to the apartment complex and shot Brown.
After the shooting, a woman told police she was in a sexual relationship with both men and it had caused arguments between them, according to the affidavit.
Green was booked into the Dallas County jail early Wednesday and bail had not yet been set, records show. He faces a murder charge.
The investigation is ongoing.
